Diversity and Inclusion Policy Template
A diversity and inclusion policy template committing to a working environment where all workers can work to their full potential, with no discrimination, harassment or victimisation, and fair treatment for everyone. It applies to directly employed and sub-contracted workers alike.
The policy has Approved By and Date Approved fields and carries a Public information classification, so it can be shared with workers, clients and other interested parties.
What the Diversity and Inclusion Policy Covers
- Discrimination - no worker or job applicant discriminated against, directly or indirectly, by perception or association, or harassed or victimised, because of a protected characteristic
- Harassment - all reasonable steps to prevent harassment, including sexual harassment, by colleagues or third parties
- Fair treatment - for all workers, whether employed or sub-contracted, part-time or full-time, permanent or temporary
- Scope - recruitment and selection, training, promotion, terms and conditions, grievance and disciplinary procedures, and redundancy
- Shared responsibility - management and all workers promoting dignity and equality of opportunity
- Complaints - raised with a line manager, another manager or through the grievance procedure
An Alternative to the Equal Opportunities Policy
The range offers more than one equality policy so you can choose the wording that suits you. The P-6 Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy is also written as a Fairness, Inclusion and Respect policy for the Common Assessment Standard, and the P-97 Equality and Diversity Policy is another alternative.
Using the Policy
Add your company name and logo, check each commitment matches what your organisation does and edit any that do not, then approve and date the policy and share it with workers and anyone else who needs to see it.
Who Needs a Diversity and Inclusion Policy?
Every employer, and organisations asked for an equality, diversity or inclusion policy by customers, in tenders or in pre-qualification.
Works with the Discrimination Risk Assessment
The RA-BR19 Discrimination and Equality risk assessment covers the risk of discrimination in the organisation's activities.
Document Control
The footer carries the policy number and title, information classification, version and page numbers, and the approval fields record who approved the policy and when, so it can be controlled with the rest of your management system documents and listed on a document register such as the F-IMS20 Document Register.
